Brass takes on a patina with wear. Mine has gone soft and uneven at the corners where my hand finds it, and I have no intention of touching it. But the cloth is there if you would rather keep it bright, and neither answer is wrong.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eA note on the Porter\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe first fifty shipped with a Porter, a fabric case sewn by a fellow Ladysmith. There were only ever fifty, and they are gone.
