A French tapestry, worked by hand some decades ago and never meant to be carried, has been cut and rebuilt into a small structured bag with a sculpted cut-out handle. The pattern falls where it falls — a red bloom running off the edge, a gold leaf caught mid-turn — because a piece like this is decided by the cloth and not by the pattern.
Inside, Japanese denim in deep indigo. The interior pocket is made from the tapestry's own cuttings, so nothing of her was wasted.
There is enough left for one more. Her sister will be cut from the same tapestry, and she will not be identical — the pattern will fall differently, as it must. After that, the tapestry is finished.
