The Pansy

Two of three.

Mary Miller Weaver stitched three of these strips alike: orange and violet pansies trailing down a cream ground, buds at either end. Each is bound in magenta leather and finished with brass clasps, to carry on any bag you already love.

The third carries her initials and the year she finished it. That one stays with me. These two are for you.

She worked with willing hands and set the work down. It is finished now, and made to be carried.
